This is the main entrance to Valletta through which thousands of people pass every day.

Ditch and bastions of Valletta.

The ditch which surrounds the bastions of Valletta, the capital city of Malta.

Grandmasters' Palace.

This is the facade of the Grandmasters' Palace. It is the place where the grandmasters used to live. Today it houses the Parliament and the Offices of the President of the Republic.

St. John's Co-Cathedral.

St. John's Co-Cathedral, the church which was originally built for the Knights of St. John. It is also the place which houses the crypt where Jean Parisot de la Valette is buried. St. John's Co-Cathedral is situated in the central part of Valletta, the Capital City of Malta.

Valletta - The Capital City of Malta.

Valletta - The Capital City of Malta, built by the Knights of St. John in 1566. It was given the name of Valletta after Grand Master Jean Parisot de la Valette, the grandmaster who proposed the building of this city. It was to serve as a fortification against any possible future attacks by the Turkish armies. Sir Walter Scott described Valletta as being: A city built by gentlemen for gentlemen.
